Family Session
12/23/2006

So before we had a busy Christmas, we were able to shoot a family session for the large Nielson Family. There were 4 individual families and tons of little babies. There was even a 2 week old baby, a two month old baby and a 4 month old baby. So as you can see, the family has grown in the past 6 months. We went and shot the family at the Coldwater Springs Golf Course in Avondale.

We actually were blessed to shoot our first ever complete wedding with Meggan and Peter in 2004. It feels so great to see them again with their little boy Tytan (4 months). We will have to show you some of our favorite photos of their wedding. We actually have a 20×30 blown up hanging around our home. It’s still one of our favorite photos!!!

Thanks Nielson Family for allowing us some of your time before the busy Christmas weekend.

Chinatown

Filed under: Entertainment — sloanphotographers @ 10:11 pm

Well as we were in California for the holidays, my sister wanted to go to Chinatown. Well Angie and I had never been, so we decided to go. Well as we were there, Maddux had been sick for the past couple of nights and not getting any sleep. Which in turn, made us not get any sleep. So while it started to rain, we had to go. But at least my sister found a purse and Lillian found a Strawberry Short-Cake Doll.

So here are some pretty basic photos:

Merry Christmas!!!

Filed under: Entertainment — sloanphotographers @ 12:01 am

We love Christmas for so many reasons!!!

- Angie’s Birthday 12/25/1980
- Spending time with our families
- Matt’s Mom makes Cherry Chocolates & Amazing Sugar Cookies
- Remembering the birth of Jesus Christ

We are watching NoradSanta.org right now and watching The Polar Express on DVD with Matt’s Family. We had oyster stew, tomato soup, and treats galore!!! This is so awesome! As our neices and nephews get older, Christmas is just so much fun with them.

We want to wish everyone a great Christmas. Tomorrow we will be heading to California with Matt’s sister and then to a surprise trip to Disneyland for her girls: Maddy, Olivia, and Lilly. We can’t wait to show you the photos of all of our Christmas activities!!! Stay tuned!

We love you guys!!!

Day After Session
12/21/2006

We had another amazing time with Rachel and Nathaniel today. We have been looking forward to shooting a “Day After…” Session with them for awhile. Well ever since we had such a great time with them when we shot their engagement session. We were able to go back to Villa Siena where they had their reception and take some really relaxed portaits. We had about 2.5 hours with them which is so perfect!!!

We also cruised down to the Mesa LDS Temple to get just some fun shots of where they were married. We had never really ventured into the street leading up to the temple, but we had fun dodging the cars!!!

We really have enjoyed getting to know Rachel and Nathaniel. Thanks guys for being so awesome!!!

Just in case, Nathaniel has a sweet company called Urban Shadow. Check it out.

Holmes Family

Filed under: Portraits — sloanphotographers @ 3:23 pm

12/18/2006

We were so excited to finally meet with the Holmes Family!!! They were referred to us from the Budge Family and live right down the street from them. We showed up at their home and we had some ideas of what we wanted to do, but we really just went with the day and tried to capture the personality and lifestyle of the family. Once we got to it, we had such a blast. We drove around Val Vista Lakes and found a good location by the blue colored lakes and then we went to Dana Park and had fun around the walls. We could thank them enough for how great their children were and what fun we had!!!

Chandler + Mateo

Filed under: Portraits — sloanphotographers @ 12:05 pm

12/17/2006

This is our first family that won the contest. They were nominated by their Grandma Sue, who is such a great person and a long-time friend of Angie. Sue wanted the session to be about the kids since the story is about the family getting back together for Christmas. This story brought so much happiness to our lives and we are just blessed to be a part of it. Here is what was submitted as the story:

“…Once upon a time
there was this young woman
and she fell in love with this young man
And they were happy.

And they had a baby girl,
whom they named Chandler Leigh,
And everyone adored her.
Chandler was the first grandchild
for both the paternal and maternal grandparents.
And they were happy.

This family was so very happy,
And over joyed,
And full of life.
And they were happy.

When their baby daughter was just a few months old
The young couple discovered they were expecting again,
The anticipation of another child so soon was overwhelming,
The young parents were wondering how they could possibly have
two children so close in age,
And they were scared and nervous.

And when their first child was 14 months old,
The young couple had their second child,
A son, whom they named Christian Mateo,
Who was the apple of his parents eyes,
And they were happy.

When their little boy was just a few months old,
The mother had some health issues,
which prevented her from conceiving again,
And they were sad.The mother had some health issue,
Which prevented her from conceiving children again
And they were sad.

Yet at this moment, the young mother who had always thought God was punishing her
By having her two little children so close together in age,
A girl and A boy,
Now realized what a blessing this was to her
And she was happy.

But time went by…
And this young woman and this young man
felt the strains of raising a family,
and having health issues , which now took a toil on their relationship
And they were sad.

Over time…
The communication between parents became stagnated,
A marriage where conversation became infrequent.
And this young woman, and this young man…
grew apart
And they were sad.

And this young woman and this young man
forgot what had brought them together in the first place…
When tragedy struck, problems arose, they had little to hold them together,
and they drifted apart,
And they were sad

This young woman thought her only option was to divorce this young man,
So the young woman moved into her parents place along with her two small children
And everyone was so sad.

Over the course of two years
The divorce was a few weeks from becoming final…
And the young woman and the young man
Found their way back to each other
And finally the young woman and the young man
figured out how to make this family relationship work
And they were happy.

And now this family who have been separated for over two years…
Is back together again.

This will be the first Christmas in over two years that both Chandler and Mateo will be able to spend with both their Mother and Father Together ….
They are a united family again,
And they are happy!

The only thing the kids wanted for their birthday this year was for their mommy and daddy to be back together
Because…
Kids only know Love, they couldn’t figure out why their own two parents couldn’t love each other as much as they loved them.

Finally….This Story Has A Very Happy Ending….

Now Mommy, Daddy, Chandler and Mateo
Are Living Happily Ever After

Love…
Love was the force that brought everyone back together…
Love for each other…
The love they had for their two children
Love is what kept them all together after everything they went through.

So….
This will be their first Christmas together as a family in over two years
And they are happy!!!!

And…..
this is why I am nominating them for this contest….
Not the whole family,
Just the two kids
who can surprise their parents with pictures of themselves for their present to their parents!!!!!”

CHECK OUT THEIR SLIDESHOW HERE!!!

Thanks Guys!!! Merry Christmas!!!
